Job Announcement

Title: ECS Support Services Manager
Department: Employee and Community Services
Reports To: Director, Training & Employee Support
Hours: Full-time day-shift, M-F

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and coordinate support services for Lighthouse employees who are blind, make appropriate referrals to community agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, plan and ensure timely delivery of assigned support service areas provided by the department to Lighthouse and INL employees who are blind or low vision, including referral to housing resources
  • Coordinate and manage information and referral systems; refer employees to appropriate resources both internally and in the community
  • Develop and maintain contacts with service providers in the Seattle area; serve as liaison
  • Coordinate with Employee and Community Services staff, and Human Resources staff to conduct effective outreach to Lighthouse employees and prospective employees for appropriate services coordination.
  • Maintain files, provide documentation, data collection, reports, and summaries as needed
  • Maintain excellent communication with Production, HR, and others who provide aspects of support and training, such as Orientation & Mobility instructors and Computer Training Program staff
  • Develop annual budgets and work plans

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Program management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to support others in learning to advocate for themselves; support others to succeed
  • Knowledge of housing programs and systems
  • Ability to partner with community organizations effectively
  • Ability to problem solve effectively
  • Creativity & flexibility; ability to change approach as needed
  • Ability to take initiative, function autonomously, and be dependable.
  • Ability to travel between Spokane and Seattle several times per year
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically about the programs and services we offer
  • Willingness to learn about blindness resources nationally
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of resources in the local community
  • Demonstrated excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PC applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Internet Explorer.

Requirements:

  • BA or BS in Rehab, Social Services or related field required
  • 3 years in disability related field, with emphasis on advocacy
  • Mature judgment and sensitivity in interpersonal relations and among diverse groups
  • Background in the areas of housing, transportation, and employment a strong plus
  • Bilingual a plus
